Course Description

In this introductory theater course students will receive sequential instruction focused on the development of the tools of the actor- voice, body, and imagination. Through team building theater games students will build confidence as speakers and performers, as well as participate individually and in small groups in the processes of originating, performing, producing, and responding to dramatic works. Students will study the basics of public speaking and participate in memorizing and reciting famous speeches from throughout history. In addition, students will study the basic fundamentals of how scene design, sound, costumes, properties and lighting are used in the theater.
