Course Description

Why do humans tell stories? What do myths from around the world have in common? Using Greek and Roman myths as a base, learn about myths and stories from different times and cultures! We begin with a comparison of creation and flood stories from around the world, then explore several famous epics. We also look at how mythology is used in modern stories. Classwork focuses on reading and analyzing authentic texts, writing, and discussing. Throughout the year students have choice in topic/culture of stories and projects. The year ends with a project on a mythological topic of your choice! Nota Bene: Myth Tradition is not a Latin course; all texts are read in English.
