Course Description

In addition to reviewing grammar concepts learned in Chinese III, students in Chinese IV will learn how to describe feelings and state opinions in speaking and writing. At the end of this course students will also be able to explore the following themes in the Chinese language: Going back to school, Conversing with a friend from far away, earning pocket money as well as living in a young people’s world. Students at this level will visit the language laboratory. Tapes, videos, CDs, and DVDs will be used extensively to study the Chinese language and culture. Students will be able to enlarge their Chinese characters to a certain extent. They will have the chance to read story books and write short reading logs about it. They will also have the chance to write simple essays in Chinese. Students will continue to be encouraged to learn Chinese culture via independent projects.
