Course Description

AP United States History is an amazing course that is equivalent to an introductory college history course. The aim of the course is to thoroughly analyze American History, foreign policy and globalization from indigenous America through the present day. The course is intended to provide students with the factual knowledge and critical thinking, reading and writing skills necessary to deal seriously with the past and present, and to prepare students for the required AP Examination in May. This course is more than exam prep: students will take a field trip to walk Boston's "Freedom Trail;" participate in a Harvard Business School Case Study; experience a simulation where they form a union that stands up to the boss; and build a classroom community where all feel welcomed and supported to take on a challenging but rewarding curriculum. This course counts for the 11th grade History requirement, or could be used as an Elective in 12th grade.
