Creative Writing and Publication

English Regular1112

Course Description

Creative Writing and Publication is a workshop course in which we discover, analyze and apply the methods and styles used in various forms of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and dramatic writing. Studying some of today’s best writers will help us develop our own writing craft. The course emphasizes experimentation and practice, taking our cues from published writers, poets, and playwrights. In addition to daily and weekly assignments, students will have the opportunity to produce a significant, independent project during the fourth term. The course is designed to provide opportunities for unpacking literary models while also creating a space where students can produce, workshop, receive and provide meaningful feedback on original pieces of writing. Students in this class should expect to "read like writers" and write every day!
