Course Description
To provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them. Students are required to take the AP. Environmental Science exam in May. A special emphasis is placed on exploring and understanding our place in the natural world and our effects on it with a focus on community-action oriented solutions. We participate in a selection of contests and programs throughout the year that reinforce the APES standards ex/ Lexus Eco Challenge; Massachusetts Envirothon; Duck Stamp Contest; Eversource Challenge; Boston Public Schools, Zoo New England, World Unity Inc.
